I grew up in Cape Breton, in an area called Margaree Valley, which is incredibly beautiful. I always did drawing and my mom encouraged that all along. I went to art school for a BFA at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, and studied painting, drawing and ceramics there. After I graduated, I moved home and began doing pottery in addition to my other artwork, and with Stewart, my partner, opened a shop in 1996 in a barn on our family property in the Valley.
My focus now is drawing, design and glazing. I do all of the drawings I use on my work and hand-paint all of the bowls and platters.
